Hillside city and church in Valparaiso, Chile

Discover the journey

Connect Santiago and Buenos Aires through coastal city life and vineyard valleys on a nine-day journey across Chile and Argentina. Santiago opens the route, followed by the Casablanca Valley corridor and a separate stay in Valparaiso. Mendoza introduces Argentina's wine country before the final Buenos Aires chapter. Two-night bases in the principal stages leave room for neighborhoods, food interests and scenery beyond the travel day. Select a few wine-country visits rather than filling every hour with tastings, and discuss alcohol-free alternatives where preferred. The Chile-Argentina connection uses an agreed transport plan; a scenic overland mountain crossing is not assumed.

Journey highlights

  • Separate Santiago and Valparaiso stays
  • Casablanca Valley and Mendoza wine interests
  • Two nights in Buenos Aires at the finish

Day-by-day itinerary

This is a proposed itinerary. Daily plans and overnight areas can be adjusted before booking; your written proposal will confirm the final arrangements.

Day 1Arrive in Santiago

Begin in Santiago and keep the first day light, allowing time to settle into the Chilean capital before starting the wider route. The following day gives more time for urban interests.

Overnight area: Santiago.

Day 2A day for Santiago

Spend a full day with Santiago's neighborhoods and cultural interests, choosing a small number of priorities and leaving room for independent exploration. Independent time can complement a selected guided introduction.

Overnight area: Santiago.

Day 3Toward Valparaiso

Travel toward Valparaiso through the Casablanca Valley corridor, considering a suitable winery visit as a separate arrangement rather than an automatic inclusion. The coastal city provides a different overnight setting.

Overnight area: Valparaiso.

Day 4Valparaiso's urban character

Give Valparaiso a full day for its streets, viewpoints and cultural interests, matching the amount of walking to the final plan and personal preference. Leave enough time to move comfortably between viewpoints.

Overnight area: Valparaiso.

Day 5Continue to Mendoza

Travel toward Mendoza on the agreed international connection. Keep the rest of the day flexible as you settle into Argentina's vineyard region, saving winery appointments for the following day.

Overnight area: Mendoza.

Day 6Mendoza's vineyard landscape

Reserve a day for the Mendoza area, considering carefully selected wine-country visits while leaving tastings, meals and transport to the individual proposal. A smaller selection may allow better attention at each stop.

Overnight area: Mendoza.

Day 7Toward Buenos Aires

Continue to Buenos Aires on the selected internal connection, allowing time for a first neighborhood introduction without overloading the transfer day.

Overnight area: Buenos Aires.

Day 8Buenos Aires at a chosen pace

Spend a full day in Buenos Aires, choosing city interests or a separately arranged waterways outing according to the priorities discussed with your travel specialist. A separate excursion should not displace the chosen city priorities.

Overnight area: Buenos Aires.

Day 9Finish in Buenos Aires

Finish in Buenos Aires, with an additional city stay if you would like to explore further. Arrange onward travel around the final transport schedule.

Planning this journey

  • Discuss hills, surfaces and walking effort when planning city visits.
  • Agree the properties, room categories and meal arrangements across the four principal stays.
