Mountain landscape along the Inca Trail in Peru

Discover the journey

Spend four days walking the Inca Trail, with the proposed Machu Picchu visit as the culmination of the route. An early departure from Cusco leads to three nights on the trail before the final approach, site visit and return toward Cusco. This is a focused trekking journey rather than a broader survey of Peru. Walking, mountain conditions and the guidance of qualified support staff shape each stage. Allow separate time in Cusco for preparation and acclimatization before the trek begins. Trail permits, exact Machu Picchu access, equipment, support and the final rail and road connections must be arranged before choosing your travel dates.

Day-by-day itinerary

This is a proposed itinerary. Daily plans and overnight areas can be adjusted before booking; your written proposal will confirm the final arrangements.

Day 1From Cusco to the trail

Begin with the planned early transfer from Cusco to the trail approach, then walk toward the first camp at a professionally agreed pace. Preparation in Cusco must happen before this departure.

Overnight area: Inca Trail camp.

Day 2A full trekking day

Continue along the Inca Trail with the mountain stage as the day's focus, allowing the qualified support team's decisions to shape pace and breaks. The campsite target should remain a mountain-team decision.

Overnight area: Inca Trail camp.

Day 3Toward the final trail camp

Follow the next trail section toward the final planned camp, keeping time for the walking itself rather than adding unrelated sightseeing commitments. Save energy and time for the final approach.

Overnight area: Inca Trail camp.

Day 4Machu Picchu and return

Complete the trail approach and visit Machu Picchu, subject to permits and the agreed site access. Return toward Cusco on coordinated rail and road connections, allowing time for the full journey.
