Ait Benhaddou, Morocco

Discover the journey

Leave Marrakech for a focused three-day journey through mountain roads, the Ait Benhaddou corridor and the Todra area toward Merzouga's desert landscape. A Todra-area night divides the outward journey, followed by a proposed desert overnight before the long return to Marrakech. The changing scenery is the appeal, but the compact duration means very long road days and limited room for lingering. Consider a longer itinerary if you prefer a slower pace. Arriving in Marrakech before the first morning and allowing time after the final return will make onward travel easier to plan. Discuss desert facilities and suitable walking choices before booking.

This is a proposed itinerary. Daily plans and overnight areas can be adjusted before booking; your written proposal will confirm the final arrangements.

Day 1Marrakech to the Todra area

Leave Marrakech early and travel through the Ait Benhaddou corridor toward the Todra area, balancing a meaningful settlement visit with the lengthy road stage. The Todra overnight divides the outward desert approach.

Overnight area: Todra Gorge area.

Day 2Todra and the Merzouga dunes

Consider a suitable walk near Todra before continuing toward Merzouga and the proposed desert overnight. The changing landscape is the focus; select camp facilities and transfer arrangements in advance.

Overnight area: Merzouga.

Day 3Return from the desert

Enjoy a final desert morning before the long road journey back to Marrakech. Keep evening flight plans flexible until the expected return time is agreed.

  • The final day returns from Merzouga to Marrakech. Leave onward flights flexible until the expected road arrival is agreed.

Questions about this journey

How much road travel is involved?

This is a compact desert circuit with very long drives, including the final return to Marrakech. Consider a longer itinerary for a slower pace, and allow gateway nights around the three-day route if needed.
