Discover the journey
Travel from Istanbul along Turkey's Aegean archaeological corridor and through inland Anatolia before returning to the city. The thirteen-day route links the Canakkale area, Kusadasi, Pamukkale, Konya, Cappadocia and Ankara. Changing landscapes and historical settings give each stage its character, from coastal archaeology to the valleys of Cappadocia. Several road journeys are substantial, balanced by two-night stays around Kusadasi, Cappadocia and Istanbul. Flexible time leaves room for personal interests and rest between the larger visits. Archaeological walking, steps and any underground access can be selected to suit your needs, with no strenuous extension or balloon activity assumed.

Day-by-day itinerary
This proposed itinerary can be adjusted around your interests and travel dates. Visits, transport and overnight arrangements are confirmed in your written proposal before booking.
Day 1Arrive in Istanbul
Arrive in Istanbul and settle into the city. A short nearby orientation can introduce the local setting if your flight leaves useful time, with the larger historical visits reserved for a fuller day tomorrow.
Planned overnight: Istanbul.
Day 2Explore the historic city
Use a full day for a selected route through Istanbul's historic settings, with visits grouped to reduce unnecessary crossings. Steps, queues and worship arrangements may affect access. Leave time for the streets between principal monuments rather than treating the city as a quick checklist.
Planned overnight: Istanbul.
Day 3Toward Troy and Canakkale
Travel toward the Canakkale region, with a proposed Troy visit where access and timing permit. This is a meaningful road-travel day. Keep the evening relaxed after arrival instead of attaching additional visits that depend on an unrealistically short journey.
Planned overnight: Canakkale area.
Day 4Aegean archaeology en route
Continue toward Kusadasi with a selected stop in the Pergamum area if the final road timing allows. Archaeological terrain can involve steps and exposed walking. Choose a considered route rather than trying to fit every nearby site into the transfer day.
Planned overnight: Kusadasi.
Day 5A flexible Aegean day
Keep a day in the Kusadasi area for personal interests or a separately arranged archaeological excursion. The final selection can reflect your preferred balance of heritage and rest.
Planned overnight: Kusadasi.
Day 6Toward Pamukkale and Hierapolis
Travel inland toward the Pamukkale area, considering Hierapolis and the surrounding landscape under the appropriate visitor arrangements. Surfaces, footwear rules and weather may shape the visit. Keep enough time for the road journey and a comfortable arrival at the overnight base.
Planned overnight: Pamukkale.
Day 7Across inland Anatolia
Continue toward Konya and consider the Mevlana museum area if opening arrangements and arrival timing suit. The day introduces a different inland setting after the Aegean corridor. Leave space for rest rather than adding a full city circuit after the transfer.
Planned overnight: Konya.
Day 8Toward the Cappadocian landscape
Travel toward Cappadocia, with a selected caravanserai stop considered along the way. The changing terrain is part of the experience. Keep the first afternoon focused and manageable, allowing the following full day to provide a closer look at the region.
Planned overnight: Cappadocia.
Day 9Explore selected valleys and sites
Explore selected Cappadocian valleys and cultural sites, choosing the walking level and any underground access around your needs and the weather. Keep the route manageable; a balloon activity is outside the proposed base scope.
Planned overnight: Cappadocia.
Day 10North to Ankara
Continue toward Ankara and consider a principal memorial or museum setting after arrival, subject to opening arrangements. The transfer occupies a meaningful part of the day. Keep additional visits limited so the capital introduction remains comfortable rather than rushed.
Planned overnight: Ankara.
Day 11Return to Istanbul
Travel back toward Istanbul with realistic time for the road journey and breaks. Keep the arrival relaxed. A short local outing may be possible afterward, while a major ticketed visit is better left for tomorrow.
Planned overnight: Istanbul.
Day 12A final day of city heritage
Spend the final full day with selected Istanbul interests, considering the Topkapi or Blue Mosque areas where access permits. Respect worship and opening arrangements, leaving time to revisit a neighborhood or prepare for onward travel.
Planned overnight: Istanbul.
Day 13Depart Turkey
Finish in Istanbul and allow enough time for the airport journey and departure procedures. Additional nights or an extension elsewhere in Turkey can be discussed alongside your onward plans.
