Discover the journey
Explore Iceland's winter landscapes between Reykjavik and a Vik area base. This six-day journey combines a Golden Circle route with south coast time and a separate outing toward Jokulsarlon. Staying near Vik creates space beyond a single south coast transfer, though the glacier lagoon day still involves substantial road travel. Return west to Reykjavik before departure, with an optional bathing experience considered separately. Aurora viewing may be an evening interest when conditions allow, but sightings are never certain. Short winter daylight and changing road conditions can alter the sequence, so the route needs flexibility and suitable alternatives.

Day-by-day itinerary
This is a proposed itinerary that can be adjusted around your interests. Final dates, visits and arrangements will be agreed before booking.
Day 1Begin in Reykjavik
Arrive in Reykjavik and settle into the city base. Keep the opening day gentle, with a short local walk if your arrival allows and time to rest before the winter road journey.
Planned overnight: Reykjavik.
Day 2Golden Circle toward Vik
Follow a selected Golden Circle route before continuing toward Vik. Daylight, road conditions and suitable walking access will shape the stops and the timing of the arrival.
Planned overnight: Vik area.
Day 3The south coast from Vik
Explore the south coast from the Vik area, selecting viewpoints and short walks according to current conditions. Use designated access and leave room to adapt if weather changes the best route.
Planned overnight: Vik area.
Day 4Toward Jokulsarlon
Set aside the day for an outing toward Jokulsarlon. The return road journey is substantial, so a selective stop list and winter daylight will determine what is practical.
Planned overnight: Vik area.
Day 5Return west to Reykjavik
Return west toward Reykjavik, keeping the journey flexible around conditions. A separately arranged bathing experience may be considered if access and timing permit.
Planned overnight: Reykjavik.
Day 6Complete the Iceland stay
Complete the Iceland stay and connect with your onward travel. The departure plan will allow for the journey from the city base to the actual departure point.
