Discover the journey
Travel from Rome to Venice through the smaller towns of Umbria and the artistic heart of Florence. This eight-day journey brings together Italy's larger cities and places best appreciated at a slower walking pace: Assisi, Perugia and Cortona offer a different perspective between the city stays. Spend a full day in Florence, leave room for your own interests in Rome, and finish with time to explore Venice. An optional island visit can add another side of the lagoon. Choose the art, neighborhoods and local experiences that matter to you, then shape the balance of visits and independent time around your preferred pace.

Day-by-day itinerary
This is a proposed itinerary that can be adjusted around your interests. Final dates, visits and arrangements will be agreed before booking.
Day 1Begin in Rome
Arrive in Rome and take time to settle in. If your arrival leaves room, begin with a short local walk and a first look at the neighborhood, keeping the evening relaxed after travel.
Day 2Rome at your pace
Spend the day exploring Rome through the cultural interests that matter most to you. Balance selected visits with time in the streets and neighborhoods, leaving room to pause and enjoy the city at your own pace.
Day 3Toward the Umbrian towns
Travel through Assisi toward the Umbrian countryside, with Perugia adding another town perspective. Give the smaller streets and local surroundings time before the next city stay; the final order of stops will be tailored to the day's route.
Day 4Cortona and the road to Florence
Pause in Cortona on the way toward Florence. The smaller town offers a change of scale after Rome and Umbria, with time to look around before continuing to the next base.
Day 5A day for Florence
Give Florence a full day for art and neighborhood exploration. Choose the visits you most want to make, then leave part of the day open for your own discoveries rather than moving straight from one museum to another.
Day 6Continue to Venice
Continue to Venice and leave time to settle into the city. Keep the first evening flexible for a short walk or a quieter arrival, according to the day's transport and the location of your stay.
Day 7Venice and an open choice
Explore Venice with time for its streets and your own interests. A separate island visit is an optional way to extend the day; it can be compared with staying in the city before choosing the final plan.
Day 8Finish in Venice
Finish the land journey in Venice. Leave time for the connection to your onward transport, or discuss extra nights if you would like a longer city stay.
